I use the gel form on my knee that I tore the meniscus on and it relieves the pain. The menthol is soothing and the smell of the menthol dissipates quite quickly. The formula is bluish green then vanishes to clear. I love it. I also keep a roll on in my purse/bag for a quick application if needed
