26mm Larimar gemstone sphere from the Dominican Republic.  This aesthetic sphere is carved from natural Larimar, a rare mineral with vivid sea blue to white coloration through the stone with light orbicular patterns.  First found in 1974 by a Dominican native and a member of the US Peace Corps, Larimar is a rare blue variety of the silicate mineral pectolite found only in the Dominican Republic.  This precious gem is volcanic in origin, said to hold the colors, depth, and beauty of the Caribbean sea.  It's name is derived from the name Larissa and the Spanish word for sea, mar.  Auction includes hand carved tripod wood stand as pictured.   A wonderful rare Larimar sphere for display, study, collection, and metaphysical use.
