Antique 1866 English Silver Plate Elkington Engraved Huge Tea Kettle on Stand
Presented is an incredible quality, English silver plated kettle on stand made by Elkington in 1866. This 19th century piece is finely engraved with ornate flourishes and it also hand bands of raised beaded design. The engraving on this piece is killer quality! The kettle and base have never been monogrammed, though there are cartouches on the kettle that can house a monogram. The top of the kettle has a wonderfully constructed, hidden hinge. This piece has been polished to a high finish and the inside has been cleaned; this kettle is ready to be used!!
The capacity is approximately 3.5 liters or 1 gallon.
The underside of the kettle is marked for Elkington & Co and has a date letter D for the year.
This piece is in excellent condition and the engravings are very crisp. The handle is a little loose and the top of the burner doesn't close tightly shut, but it can be fiddled around with. There are no other flaws and no repairs. We are not sure if the burner is original, but it is a great fit!
The kettle measures 12 inches from back to spout.
The base measures 7 1/2 by 9 1/2 inches.
The whole piece, the kettle placed on the stand, measures 15 1/2 inches tall.
