Antique Rare 1918 "National Red Cross" No. 65 Wood & Zinc Washboard Primitive
The Washboard is Standard Size.  The Scrubbing Surface is unusual on one (1) side.  Every other Raised Rib is Smooth.  The other Raised Grooves are Raised in a Slant Design.  The Raised Slants are slanted in the opposite direction on each till they reach the center where there is a downward slant that looks like an arrow.  Very interesting & attractive design.  There is one (1) finger joint on each side attaching the legs to the top board.  Also attached to the Top Board with a metal bracket is a board that flips from one side to the other.
One side of the Washboard is marked in part (some markings hard to read):
"RED CROSS  TOP NOTCH  SANITARY FRONT DRAIN  PATENTED ?  OCT. 20, 1916".
The other side is marked:
"NATIONAL WASHBOARD CO.  NO. 65  TRADE MARK REG. U.S. PAT. OFF.  MADE IN U.S.A.  CHICAGO, SAGINAW, MEMPHIS".
The Markings are light & dirty ... varnish would bring the color out & make the markings easier to read, if desired.
Not for the perfectionist but for the lover of time worn shabby chic beauty!

Used condition.  There are the normal scruffs & scratches to the washboard due to use & storage.  There are stains, soiling, & soap residue due to heavy use.  The scrubbing surfaces are bowed somewhat on each side.  There are four (4) tiny holes & a split in the scrubbing surface on the unusual side.  Dirty.  Sturdy.  Needs to be cleaned.
Approximate Measurements:  13.5" x 26".
Condition:  Used condition with wear consistent with age & use.  Other conditions are listed above.  Please look at photos for accurate account of condition.  Use zoom feature to see flaws prior to bidding.
