Vintage Aurora Original Brown Mako Shark T-Jet body  never mounted #1380. This Mako Shark Body is in vary good shape with very minor scuff marks.
My name is George Merklin and my father, Dave Merklin was the owner of Dave’s Hobby Shop, 384 Atlantic ave. Freeport New York.  He opened the shop in 1968 after having worked for Nassau Hobby in Freeport from the time he was 14. I was 8 years old when he opened the shop, so needless to say I was thrilled when he opened it. I did most of my growing up in that shop, but like most things in life, there comes a time when good things come to an end. And the end had come when me and my sister noticed the Altimerzer surfacing in my father, and we knew it was time to close the shop. I guess 44 years is a very good run.
In 1972 I was 12 when my father bought these bodies, I thought he was crazy and asked him why would you buy bodies without crome, glass and paint?  he looked at me and said, how many bodies have you cut up, removed the windows, chrome and painted to look like the stock cars you watch on Saturday night at Freeport Stadium, and your not the only one.  So he bagged some up in groups of 6 and sold them like that, so all of us hobby body men can do our modifying.  That is just one of the thousands of memories I have of that time.  I'm sure most of you out there collecting  do it to bring  back those memories when we had less stress in our life's and alot more fun.
